Canaries beat The Dons to finish top

NORWICH City finished top of their group in the Checkatrade Trophy after an Under-21 side won 4-1 against MK Dons.

City quickly broke on the counter attack after an unsuccessful MK Dons corner which allowed Nelson Oliveira to play Carlton Morris through, who smashed the ball into the roof of the net 11 minutes in.

In the 29th minute, Oliveira's neat through ball made it to Louis Ramsay whose dinked shot fell into the hands of Lee Nicholls.

On 38 minutes, Morris was brought down in the box by Jack Hendry, who received a booking for his foul, Oliveira stepping up and slotting the penalty home.

Sergi Canos' cross three minutes from half-time was met by Morris who headed just over the bar, but City went into the break two goals to the good.

Daniel Powell got beyond the City defence soon into the second half, only for his powerful shot to be denied by City's captain Ben Killip.

City's third goal came when Canos beat Andrew Osei-Bonsu before his shot made it beyond the 'keeper and Oliveira was there to tap the ball in at the back post.

MK Dons got a goal back after Killip's superb save from George B. Williams' point blank header was put back into the box for an easy poke home from Finn Tapp with six minutes to go.

Ebou Adams swiftly replied with an exceptional long range goal three minutes from time to wrap up a comprehensive win for Dmitri Halajko's side.
