City's youngsters progress in FA Youth CupDAVID Wright praised the maturity of his Norwich City Under-18s side after they recorded an excellent FA Youth Cup victory at Watford on Tuesday evening.
Three goals inside the opening 30 minutes without reply set City on their way, before late strikes from Anthony Spyrou and Devonte Aransibia completed a comprehensive win at Vicarage Road.
Speaking exclusively to canaries.co.uk after the game, Wright said: "I thought we were excellent, and for the first half an hour especially we were outstanding.
"We'd had a look at Watford before and came up with a plan. You give that to the players but they carried it out perfectly.
"We wanted to come out and set a high tempo to dictate the game, which was very important. If Watford dropped in, we then had a plan to break their block down.
"Once again, the players were excellent throughout. Although Watford's late goal is frustrating, overall it was a superb performance."
The Professional Development Phase Coach urged his young players to keep impressing at every opportunity, having taken control of the team earlier this month following Graeme Murty's move to Rangers.
"We'll look forward now, football being the way it is," the former defender added.
"We've got Tottenham at home at the weekend, which is our next focus. This game was good; we'll analyse it but then get ready for the next one.
"Hopefully we can bounce into Saturday with a repeat performance."
