Wes and Robbie start in 1-0 win over Austria

WES Hoolahan and Robbie Brady started against Austria as the Republic of Ireland continued their 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign.

Both City players linked up well on the left-hand side before Brady's cross was met by Jonathan Walters who fired over the bar from close range late in the first half.

The Irish got the opening goal of the game after Wes' exceptional ball found James McClean who scored through the legs of Ramazan Ozcan 48 minutes in.

Brady picked up a yellow card after 72 minutes meaning he will miss the Republic of Ireland's upcoming game against Wales, Hoolahan was replaced by David McGoldrick five minutes later.

The Republic of Ireland saw out their one goal lead, making this victory their first over Austria in 53 years and leaving them on 10 points in Group D.
