Academy graduate pens fresh terms with City

NORWICH City are delighted to announce winger Jacob Murphy has signed a new four-and-a-half year deal, keeping him at Carrow Road until the summer of 2021.

A graduate of the Canaries’ Academy, Murphy has established himself as an important part of City’s first team this season, making 16 appearances so far this term across all competitions.

The first of those came at the start of August, when the 21-year-old marked his maiden league start for Norwich by netting superbly during a 4-1 Sky Bet Championship win at Blackburn Rovers.

Taking in loan stints at six different clubs prior to the current campaign, Murphy has now featured 18 times for City in total, scoring six times.

Speaking exclusively to Norwich City TV after penning terms on a fresh deal, the youngster said: "I’m over the moon as it’s a big achievement for myself.

"I’ve been here since I was 11, which is ten years now. I couldn’t be more happy to be signing for my boyhood club.

"To get this deal done is just amazing for me. The path now is for me to continue my form and to improve as a player."

Manager Alex Neil added: "Jacob is a young player who has taken his chance this season, which has been duly rewarded.

"The challenge for him now is to maintain that progress. We are delighted he will be doing so here, at his local club."
