Young Canaries edge out the Lions at Villa ParkNORWICH City's Under-23s claimed three points against Aston Villa at Villa Park in the Premier League 2.
City opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Glenn Middleton received the ball on the left-hand side of the box from Carlton Morris before powering a cross in that forced Matija Sarkic to palm the ball into his own net.
Ben Killip denied Aston Villa's attempt at an equaliser 24 minutes in after saving Andre Green's curling shot which was heading for the top corner, the City stopper then sent Middleton on a pacey counter-attack where he was unlucky not to bag his second of the game.
Norwich were unfortunate to concede an equaliser when Killip made an excellent point-blank save from Libor Kozak, only for the rebound to fall to Rushian Hepburn-Murphy who smashed the ball into the roof of the net four minutes before half-time.
The opening five minutes of the second half began at a high tempo with numerous half chances at both ends and in the fifth minute of the half, Morris' tidy finish put his side ahead once again.
Rory Hale's long ranger in the 58th minute looked dangerous but the City skipper maintained his fine form and collected it well.
Villa forward Keinan Davis had an excellent chance to equalise for the Lions when a cross from the right hand-side reached him well, but his headed effort went high over Killip's goal.
In the final seconds of the game Killip pushed Villa's final attempt at an equaliser across the face of goal, and as the Lions were about to tap home their second goal of the game, Timi Odusina cleared the ball off the line.
Dmitri Halajko's side will look to continue their winning ways on November 28 (7pm) against Swansea at Carrow Road.
