Young Canaries thrash The Royals

NORWICH City's Under-18s thumped Reading 9-2 at Colney in the Under-18 Premier League on Saturday.

City's first goal came after seven minutes when Devonte Aransibia hit Emersson Sambu's pass home.

Reading swiftly replied when central defender Ramarni Medford-Smith scored and he got his second of the game to give The Royals the lead.

It took City's youngsters ten minutes to equalise through Bilal Kamal before skipper Owen Wallis put City ahead again after claiming the fifth goal of the game, to put his side 3-2 up.

Reading stopper Liam Driscoll saw red two minutes prior to half-time after a challenge on the final man and Norwich took advantage of the extra man when Kamal netted again to extend the lead.

City went into the break two goals and one man up, Reading would have had to dig deep if they were to get anything from the game.

Five minutes into the second half Kamal completed his hat-trick and the young Canaries were three goals ahead, then Toby Syme added a sixth.

Alan Fleming got his first of the game 66 minutes in, further frustrating The Royals before the frontman hit home again in the 84th minute to make it 8-2.

The final goal of the game came two minutes from time through Kamal's replacement Anthony Spyrou, with the remarkable victory against fourth place Reading seeing City move to seventh in the league.
