Wes Hoolahan plays a pivotal role in the Republic of Ireland's 3-1 win over Moldova

WES Hoolahan is man of the match as the Republic of Ireland win 3-1 against Moldova in the World Cup qualifiers.

Just two minutes into the game, Wes played an inch-perfect ball to Shane Long, who slotted the ball away to put Ireland one goal ahead.

Seconds before the half-time whistle, Moldova's captain Alexandr Gatcan played a ball over the top to Igor Bugaev, who scored his first international goal since June 2011 to make it 1-1.

The Republic of Ireland came out of the break looking like the stronger side, and they looked confident on the ball.

With 22 minutes left, Wes gave the ball to James McCarthy whose longshot hit Jonathan Walters, the ball then fell to James McClean who poked the ball into the back of the net allowing his side to regain their lead.

Ireland got their third goal of the game 75 minutes in, when Hoolahan put the ball through the legs of Alexandru Dedov, Seamus Coleman then put a low cross into the box and McClean scored again.

Ten minutes later, Hoolahan was replaced by Eunan O'Kane.

The full-time whistle went, and the Republic of Ireland walked away with another victory.
