Robbie Brady stretchered off in Ireland's 1-0 win over Georgia

ROBBIE Brady started and Wes Hoolahan was on the bench in the Republic of Ireland's World Cup qualifier against Georgia on Thursday.

In the first half, Brady's free-kick from just inside Georgia's half was turned in by James McClean, but a foul was committed on Giorgi Loria, resulting in a free-kick and denying the goal.

At the break, Ireland would have been frustrated as their visitors had more of the ball and created more chances in the first 45, striking the woodwork twice.

The Boys in Green entered the second half the much better side, and 56 minutes in, Seamus Coleman took advantage of some poor defending to poke the ball in.

15 minutes from the end, Brady attempted to get on the end of Shane Long's ball, but was involved in a clash of heads with Saba Kverkvelia, resulting in him being carried off and replaced by Glenn Whelan.

Ireland saw out the game, and moved one step further along their road to Russia.

Reports from after the game have said that Brady was conscious and talking in the dressing room.
