Defender skippers side at Elland Road

RYAN Bennett says Norwich City will move on quickly from their EFL Cup fourth round elimination at the hands of Leeds United on Tuesday evening.

City were beaten on penalties at Elland Road, having played out a 2-2 draw with their Yorkshire counterparts over the course of 120 minutes.

Talking to Norwich City TV after the match, Bennett said: "It's hard to take as obviously losing on penalties is always disappointing.

"We should have seen the game out. We didn't do that so now we'll concentrate on the league.

"That's what we need to do. We need to get back to the basics on the training field and make sure we get promoted this year.

"We'll work hard to put things right and hopefully we'll see that on Saturday."

Bennett was chosen to captain City at Elland Road by boss Alex Neil, having come into the defence as a late replacement for Ivo Pinto against Preston North End three days earlier.

"It was obviously a proud moment," the defender added.

"You'd like to get the win when you're captain but it didn't work out like that. Hopefully I can push myself into the team and get a run of games.

"We need to go to Brighton and get the points. That would shoot us up the table and we'd be able to forget about this one quickly."
