Defender targeting improved fortunes with the Canaries

IVO Pinto wants to play his part in a 'brighter future' for Norwich City as a difficult 2016-17 campaign moves towards its conclusion.

The Canaries sit out of reach of the play-off positions with three games remaining, leaving them short of their target of an immediate return to the Premier League following relegation last season.

"I always want better, to be at the top," Pinto told reporters ahead of already promoted Brighton heading to Carrow Road on Friday (7:45pm).

"I want a brighter future for this club, because it deserves that. I want to be part of it and to write another page for this club, but a better one than it has been this season.

"The fans have been amazing to me. They are probably the only part that didn't fail this season, they are with us at both home and away games.

"I appreciate it isn't easy as a supporter, I know that as a supporter. Expectations were so high so when the team isn't achieving their goals, we need them."

In Brighton, City face a side who will clinch the Sky Bet Championship title with victory in Norfolk, with Pinto determined to stall further Seagulls celebrations.

"They've had a fantastic season and deserve to be there," the defender added.

"At their stadium they had a party, now it's our time to win. We lost our first game against them but the talk in the locker room is more about getting better results.

"We want to win our last three games. We will try to do that to show that we still care about the club.

"As a professional, you are always on trial. I hope all the players try their best because to stay here you need to you need to show their quality."
