City youngsters beaten in Shropshire

NORWICH City Under-23s fell to a 3-1 defeat to Wolves at Telford United's New Bucks Head in Premier League 2 on Monday evening.

Strikes either side of half-time from Daniel Armstrong and Donovan Wilson put the home side in control, with Wilson netting again late on after Diallang Jaiyesimi's goal had given the visitors hope.

The two teams shared the early opportunities, Wolves' Jordan Graham and Wilson looking to cause problems for the away side who threatened themselves through Joe Crowe and Ebou Adams.

Adams himself then went close once more midway through the first half, this time heading wide after tidy play from Jaiyesimi in a dangerous area.

Chances remained at a premium until the 44th minute; Armstrong breaking beyond the City defence before rounding goalkeeper Jake Hallett and finding the net to put the hosts in front.

That theme continued for much of the second half, Wolves having the better of things but having to wait until the 66th minute to extend their lead courtesy of a smart Wilson finish.

The Canaries responded well to that setback, pulling one back with 15 minutes remaining when Jaiyesimi drilled low beyond goalkeeper Harry Burgoyne.

Their hopes of taking anything from the contest were effectively ended four minutes from time however, Wilson producing a superb overhead-kick to notch his second and ultimately kill off City's challenge.
