Norwich City's Under-18s kicked off their season with defeat as they were beaten by Tottenham Hotspur.
In the first match of the 2017-18 U18 Premier League South season, City were comfortably beaten in a tough opening day assignment in Enfield.
Phoenix Patterson gave Spurs the lead on 27 minutes but City still had chances of their own, particularly through Alan Fleming who drew a smart save from Jonathan De Bie in the first half.
Jamie Bowden doubled the home side’s lead seven minutes later before Reo Griffiths made it three on 57 minutes.
City stopper Fergal Hale-Brown was terrific all game but powerless to stop Spurs adding a fourth with 20 minutes to play when Dilan Markanday lashed home.
The Canaries persevered and could have got on the scoresheet before the final whistle but Bilal Kamal and Fleming were thwarted by De Bie.
City are back in action next Saturday at home to Brighton and Hove Albion (1pm kick-off).
