Results the most important thing for City stopper

JOHN Ruddy says Norwich City must continue to develop a 'win at all costs' mentality when they head to Wigan Athletic in the Sky Bet Championship on Tuesday evening (7:45pm).

The Canaries have notched up three consecutive league victories, the latest coming in the form of a gritty 1-0 triumph in Cardiff on Saturday.

City's goalkeeper believes this stage of the season is one where results take priority over performances, and told the media: "We need to keep the points coming and the momentum going.

"Saturday was a prime example of things coming together, finally. A lot of people would say that four or five weeks ago we'd have probably lost that game.

"We were asked a lot of questions which we'd failed to answer in previous games but showed we can win ugly. That's the key message from now until the end of the season, to win at all costs.

"It's a key month that could take us into the last few matches of the season on a real high. For now though, the most important game of our season is Wigan away.

"That's how we've got to approach it, the next game is the biggest."

Having kept successive clean sheets during a run of improved defensive form, Ruddy is keen for more of the same in order to maximise the chances of success for his team.

"It's nice to be able to help the lads in front of me because they were superb on Saturday, to a man," he added.

"We defended excellently and looked a threat when we were going forward. At this moment in time everyone is carrying out their jobs and long may that continue.

"We've got 17 games left so there are a lot of points to play for. It's about going to places like Wigan and finding the method to get the result, as we did against Cardiff.

"A run of three wins in a row gives us massive encouragement. We've got tough games coming up, no question, but it's about us doing our own jobs."
