Young Canaries warm up for Zagreb with convincing win

NORWICH City's Under-23s eased into the last 16 of the Premier League Cup on Friday with a convincing 5-0 win over Wolves at Colney Training Centre.

Todd Cantwell struck a hat-trick for the hosts, who also saw Ebou Adams and Diallang Jaiyesimi find the target in City's final game of the group stages.

A low-key first half swung on fine margins, with Wolves going within inches of taking the lead just before the interval when Christian Herc's deflected effort flicked off the post.

However, just moments later it would instead be the Canaries who went in front; Cantwell reacting quickest to pounce on a loose ball and fire home from inside the area just before the interval.

City began the second period on the front foot, pulling away from their opponents as two goals in as many minutes effectively killed off the game as a contest.

First, Adams rose highest from a corner to power home a firm header before Cantwell's delicate lob proved to have just enough on it to beat visiting goalkeeper Jack Ruddy.

Jaiyesimi guided a precise Louis McIntosh centre with his head to make it four, ahead of Cantwell completing his hat-trick by rolling home from close-range in a game punctuated by smart saves from City's Aston Oxborough.

That completed the perfect warm-up for Monday's Premier League International Cup quarter-final with Zagreb, with tickets for the match at Carrow Road FREE to all supporters.
