Dutch full-back agrees deadline day moveNORWICH City are delighted to announce the signing of Ajax left-back Mitchell Dijks on loan until the end of the 2016-17 season.
The deal includes an option for the Canaries to purchase the highly-rated defender at the conclusion of his loan spell.
Dijks, 23, moves to Carrow Road having made 12 league appearances for the Dutch giants this season, in addition to three more in the Europa League.
A product of Ajax’s famed youth system, his senior debut for the club came in August 2012, going on to feature six times in total during the 2012-13 season to help his side lift their 32nd Eredivisie title.
Dijks spent 2013-14 on loan at Heerenveen ahead of completing a permanent switch to Willem II in August 2014, making 28 league appearances for the latter before returning to Ajax after a single season.
Speaking exclusively to Norwich City TV after completing the move, he said: "I'm really excited, it's a fantastic club with great people.
"I'm hungry to play. To get to the Premier League with Norwich, that's my first goal and I'm excited to do that step."
City boss Alex Neil added: "This is one where we've had to work hard to get it over the line but for us it's a bit of a coup.
"He's played Champions League football and he's really highly thought of. He wasn't playing this season at Ajax, and that gave us an opportunity.
"He'll bring size and stature; he's six feet four inches tall, strong and athletic. I think all of those qualities are certainly things that will add to the squad."
