Andreu nets double in Dundee United defeat

TONY Andreu's brace proved in vain for Dundee United on Saturday as they were eliminated from the Scottish Cup fourth round at the hands of Ross County.

Chris Routis put hosts County in front on six minutes, before Andreu side-footed home to level the game soon after.

The home side responded emphatically however, with goals from Paul Quinn, Tim Chow and Liam Boyce putting them 4-1 up inside half an hour.

Andreu's second in first half injury time gave United hope of a comeback, but Routis added another before Jim O'Brient netted late on to complete a comprehensive 6-2 win for The Staggies.

Elsewhere, Remi Matthews returned to the Hamilton Academical bench following a shoulder injury as Martin Canning's side won 1-0 at Kilmarnock in the same competition.

Matthews has been out of action since the start of October, with Accies progressing courtesy of a last-minute penalty from Rakish Bingham.

Back in England, City Academy graduates Declan Rudd and Harry Toffolo were set to go head-to-head in Sky Bet League One only for Charlton Athletic's meeting with Scunthorpe United to be postponed due to a frozen pitch.
