Forward bags his first City treble in victory over The Rams

NELSON Oliveira was eager to spread the plaudits across the Norwich City squad after his starring role in a 3-0 Sky Bet Championship win over Derby County at Carrow Road on Monday.

The Portugal international netted a perfect hat-trick to help the Canaries convincingly see off Steve McClaren's side, ensuring 2017 began in ideal fashion.

Speaking to Norwich City TV after the game, Oliveira said: "I feel very happy because we won the game.

"Everyone played well, and I'm happy that I helped the team with goals. The lads helped me a lot. I scored three times but without them it's impossible.

"It was important to start the new year with a good performance and a good result. We've done that by playing well.

"We need to keep working now."

The manner of City's victory over an in-form County outfit was particularly pleasing for the 25-year-old, who added: "They had won a lot in their last team games; I think they had kept eight clean sheets.

"To score three goals against them and win comfortably is good. I'm happy to be playing and scoring because it gives you confidence.

"I've had time to show my ability, which is what I try to do by helping the team. The fans are happy because I did a good job; we work for them.

"It's good because they can enjoy the game and the performance. I think it's my second hat-trick, the last one was a long time ago.

"Hopefully I can score more and the team can win more games."
