New signing James Husband says he can’t wait to get started after agreeing terms with the Canaries on a three-year deal.
“I’m delighted to join such a big football club,” he says. “They’ve been in the Premier League recently, and obviously there are some big players here who have played in the Premiership and hopefully they can teach me things I don’t know already.”
After a disjointed 2016-17 season with Middlesbrough, in which he made one Premier League appearance, left-back Husband wants to hit the ground running at City. “It didn’t start off well last season – I got injured at the start of the year and was basically playing catch-up for the rest of the year.
“It didn’t go to plan for me and I didn’t play as much football as I wanted. So first and foremost I’ve come here to play football and to enjoy my time as much as possible. The main thing is to try and get Norwich up the league as far as we can go.”
Husband sees himself as a modern-day full-back, with plenty of pace to get up and down the pitch. “I’d say I’m an attacking full-back,” he says. “I like a tackle too – the first job is to defend and the second job is to go forward. Full-backs have to get forward a bit more these days, but I enjoy both sides of it.”
Daniel Farke’s vision for the Club also impressed Husband. “I’ve spoken to him and he’s explained his ideas and how he wants his team to play, and I think it suits me to a tee really, especially how he wants his full-backs to play.
“It’s obviously new for everyone here and for me, and I think everyone at the Club will be looking forward to it. I’ll work as hard as I can to try and impress everyone.”
