Jamal Lewis is taking nothing for granted after being pushed into a senior environment at Norwich City this pre-season.
The 19-year-old has featured in a number of friendly matches as Daniel Farke's men prepare for the Sky Bet Championship campaign, and is part of the first team squad currently on tour in Germany.
"It's been a great experience for me," Lewis told canaries.co.uk.
"The quality of football and the tempo is very high. It's been great to be in a first team environment.
"Everyone is getting used to the new system under the boss and it gives the full-backs more of a free role. It's been enjoyable to play in and learn the ropes.
"I've been at the club for three years now, going into my fourth. I've really enjoyed the process of it all."
Lewis' transition from the Development Squad has been helped not only by a familar face, but also by more established figures.
"My close friend Ben [Godfrey] has first team experience," he explained.
"I've been with him quite a bit but the likes of Russ [Martin] and Steven Naismith have been very welcoming. They've helped me and given me good advice.
"I'm quite a hard-working person anyway so they told me to keep doing that and everything will pay off in due time.
"Hard work is a staple of my training and my games. I hope that everyone is able to see that."
