City U23s beaten by Sutton United

29 July 2017

Norwich City’s U23s fell to a 3-2 defeat at Sutton United on Friday evening.

Norwich too the lead after good work from Pierre Xavier Fonkeu – currently on trial – set up Diallang Jaiyesimi in the 12th minute.

Twelve minutes later Sutton were level through Tommy Wright, and Josh Taylor put them 2-1 up nine minutes before half-time.

Jaiyesimi, Fonkeu and Glenn Middleton both went close to equalising for City before Cantwell’s clever free-kick – sidefooted under the jumping wall – drew Norwich level in the 79th minute.

An end-to-end final 10 minutes saw both sides waste chances before Dundas grabbed the winner for Sutton with two minutes remaining.

City Under-23s’ Premier League 2 fixtures have been released, and can be viewed HERE. The first match, against Brighton on Monday, will be played behind closed doors.
