Steven Naismith put Friday evening's 3-1 victory at Bundesliga II side DSC Arminia Bielefeld down to the hard work put in so far this pre-season.
Daniel Farke's side have spent the past six days at a training camp in north-western Germany, with the aim of preparing themselves suitably for the upcoming Sky Bet Championship game.
Naismith, who scored the opener at the Schuco Arena, told Norwich City TV: "This was probably the toughest game we've had in pre-season so far.
"They've got a week until the start of their season and we're still catching up. We've got the quality in the squad and tonight we proved that."
The Scotland international is satisfied with the progress made by the squad as a whole, but understands the team is still in a transitional period.
"There are going to be a few mistakes as we implement exactly what the manager wants," he added.
"We're going about it the right way. The guys are hungry to learn and the manager has brought a brand new philosophy.
"It's been a hard week but an enjoyable one. We've capped it off with an impressive result."
