Carrow Road was turned into a Wonderland this week as around 60,000 fans enjoyed two brilliant nights from English boy band legends Take That.
Across Thursday and Friday evening, Norwich welcomed Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald for their UK Wonderland Tour, with All Saints providing fantastic support. Both days saw fans queuing from the small hours of the morning to catch a glimpse of the Take That boys.
The band didn’t disappoint, fans tweeting their approval throughout the concerts and Gary Barlow showing his appreciation with a tweet after Thursday’s show, saying “Brilliant night, brilliant crowd! Thank you Norwich”.
Take That are the latest of a string of top acts to perform at Carrow Road in recent years, including Elton John in 2005, George Michael in 2007, JLS and Olly Murs in 2011. Rod Stewart has performed twice, first in 2011 and most recently last June.
City’s Commercial Director Ben Kensell was pleased with how the nights went: “We’ve been absolutely delighted to welcome an act of Take That’s massive stature here for two marvellous concerts. Both nights hopefully resulted in a memorable experience for those who came – we’ve had an excellent response from those here.
“It’s been an excellent team effort from all those involved here at Norwich City and with the promoters, and has once again highlighted Carrow Road as a major and flexible entertainment venue in the east of England. It’s been a brilliant couple of nights and we thank Norfolk Constabulary and all the relevant local authorities for their support and the fans for turning up in their numbers, and we look forward to putting on more great concerts in the future.”
