More 'heart and bottle' needed, says the manager

ALEX Neil expects Bristol City to test his team's mettle when the two sides meet at Ashton Gate on Tuesday (7.45pm).

The Canaries are still reeling from Saturday's 5-1 loss at Sheffield Wednesday, a result that leaves them nine points adrift of the Sky Bet Championship play-off places.

Neil told Norwich City TV on Monday: "On the road, we've not performed anywhere near well enough and that's going to have to change.

"We're going to have to show more heart and more bottle than we've shown so far.

"They're going to be like most of the other teams we've played at the bottom of the table who want to test if we fancy it.

"They'll want to test if we've got any heart and determination, and if we lack in any of those areas you're going to find it a tough afternoon.

"Equally, with what we've got if you can match all of that we're more than capable of winning the game."

Neil admits that there is pride at stake for him and his players after the humiliating defeat at Hillsborough at the weekend.

He added: "It's another game where we need to go and play better than we did on Saturday.

"It's important for everyone; it's important for the players as much as anyone else because they've got the prove they're up to the task.

"That's simply where we are. We've got 11 games of the season to go, but I think everybody's at the stage now where we need to show that we deserve to be here."
