City starlet in England Under-21s bow

JACOB Murphy made his debut for England's Under-21s as Aidy Boothroyd's side slipped to a 1-0 friendly defeat to Germany in Wiesbaden.

City Academy graduate Murphy, who has scored ten goals in an impressive breakthrough season at Carrow Road, completed the full 90 minutes at the BRITA-Arena.

Nadiem Amiri's first half strike for the hosts proved enough to earn them the victory, with the result reflecting that from the England senior team's game against the same opponents on Wednesday.

Murphy, 22, was called into the squad as a late replacement for Huddersfield Town's Izzy Brown before meeting up with his compatriots on Monday.

They will now travel to Randers for a friendly against Denmark on Monday, March 27 (6pm).
