JACOB Murphy has been called up to England's Under-21s squad as a replacement for Huddersfield Town's Izzy Brown.

The winger, who has caps at youth level up to Under-20s level, has been rewarded for his excellent form for the Canaries this season with his first inclusion in the age group one step down from the senior side.

Murphy netted the opening goal in Saturday's 2-0 win over Barnsley, taking his tally to ten in all competitions in his breakthrough season at Carrow Road.

Aidy Boothroyd's Under-21s continue their preparations for this summer's European Championship by facing Germany in Wiesbaden on Friday, March 24 (7pm) and Denmark in Randers on Monday, March 27 (6pm).

Other City players who are set to feature for their countries over the international break include Scotland's Russell Martin and Steven Naismith.

Gordon Strachan's side welcome Canada for a friendly at Easter Road on Wednesday, March 22 (7.45pm) before they host Slovenia in a World Cup qualifier at Hampden Park on Sunday, March 26 (7.45pm).

Northern Ireland are also in action, with Michael McGovern and Kyle Lafferty included in their roster for Sunday's World Cup qualifier against Norway at Windsor Park (7.45pm).

Wes Hoolahan was named in the Republic of Ireland's squad for their double-header against Wales and Iceland, but the midfielder has since been ruled out by Martin O'Neill after an assessment on the thigh injury he picked up on Saturday.

Youssouf Mulumbu is also carrying a knock and hasn't travelled for DR Congo's friendly in Kenya on Sunday, while Timm Klose didn't make the cut for Switzerland but is on standby for their qualifier against Latvia on Saturday.
