Defender refuses to give up on play-off hopes

IVO Pinto insists Norwich City must maintain belief ahead of Saturday's Sky Bet Championship game at home to Blackburn Rovers (3pm).

The Canaries sit nine points off the play-off places with just ten games now remaining, with Pinto offering an honest assessment of the current collective mindset.

"If you are not winning games it's normal that the mood isn't the best," the right-back told reporters on Friday afternoon.

"While you have a chance, you have to believe. If you don't believe in yourself then nobody else is going to believe for you.

"It's getting harder, we can't avoid the truth in that but while we still have a chance we have to fight. We have to keep trying until the end of the season.

"Now, it's not just about us but about other teams losing points as well. Everything is possible; this week we saw what Barcelona did so we have to believe."

Explaining how he approaches the current situation on an individual level, Pinto added: "I'm just focused on my work.

"When things aren't going how you want them to you automatically work harder. I'm just trying to give my best to the team to try and help them.

"Although things are not in the best way at the moment it's about pride. It's about going out there and showing you can do better.

"We have to give everything we have to show people we want to be here. Don't go home frustrated because you didn't give everything you have."
