Loan round-up: Duo set for play-off final clash

22 May 2017

REMI Matthews and Tony Andreu are set to go head-to-head in the Scottish Premiership play-off final, with the first leg taking place on Thursday before the tie concludes on Sunday.

The situation came about after Matthews' Hamilton Academical avoided automatic relegation from the top-flight with a 4-0 win over Dundee on Saturday.

Two goals in two first half minutes from Rakish Bingham and Giannis Skondras put the hosts in control, before Dougie Imrie's penalty settled any lingering nerves with the hour-mark looming.

Ali Crawford adding a fourth with less than 15 minutes remaining to complete the scoring, meaning Accies ended the regular season in 11th place.

That means they will face Dundee United for a place in next season's Scottish Premiership, after Andreu's team came through a two-legged semi-final against Falkirk.

With the tie finely poised at 2-2 going into the match at Falkirk on Friday evening, United were put on the backfoot when James Craigen netting early on for The Bairns.

It remained that way until the 76th minute when Simon Murray hauled his side level, ahead of Paul Dixon's first goal in over five years sealing a dramatic 4-3 aggregate victory.

Further afield, Michee Efete carried on the theme of City's loan exports faring well this weekend, notably scoring his maiden senior goal for Icelandic side Breidablik on Sunday.

With his team already 2-1 up away to Vikingur Reykjavik, Efete added a third on 73 minutes - marking just his second professional appearance in perfect fashion.

The home side notched a further consolation in injury-time, but Efete's side held on to claim their first victory this month at the fifth attempt.
