Alex Pritchard hopes his brief return to first team action will kickstart a return to full fitness.
The City playmaker has been absent since breaking his ankle in a pre-season game at Cambridge United but returned at Carrow Road on Saturday for the 1-1 draw with Preston North End.
Speaking post-match, Pritchard said: “It’s been a long road to getting back but it does feel good to be out there and getting some minutes on the pitch.
“Obviously it’s going to take a while [to get back to full fitness] but it was good to be out there.
“I’ve been working hard. Whenever I was going to be put on, I was ready. Maybe it has come a little bit too soon but I’ll go again tomorrow with the reserves [U23s].”
Pritchard has watched the progress of his teammates closely from the sidelines and he thinks it’s important City get out of their winless run quickly.
“It [the season] has been up-and-down,” he added. “The boys know that. Obviously we went through the period of really good wins and away wins but we’re in a little bit of a hole now.
“We’ve got to get together and we’ve got to get out of it.
"We can get too downhearted but we have to get out of it quickly. We’ve done the wins away from home at Boro, Sheffield United and more. We have to do it at Cardiff.”
