In Focus: Nottingham Forest

20 November 2017

Norwich City head to Nottingham Forest on Tuesday, November 21 (7:45pm) looking to register their first win in five Sky Bet Championship outings.

The Canaries resumed action after the international break with a weekend draw against Barnsley, bringing a run of three consecutive defeats to an end.

With their last success coming at East Anglian rivals Ipswich Town last month, Daniel Farke's men will be keen to collect all three points in the East Midlands.

Here, we take a look at what City are up against in Mark Warburton's Nottingham Forest side.

Key Players
Kieran Dowell has seized his opportunity of first team football this term, making the most of his loan spell from parent club Everton.

The creative midfielder has notched six times in 17 league outings so far, having previously only made one senior start for The Toffees.

Coincidentally, that start came against City at Goodison Park in the final game of the 2015-16 Premier League season in a youthful Everton side which also included Tom Davies.

In attack, Daryl Murphy has proven to be an astute summer acquisition, with the frontman having plundered six league goals.

Half of those strikes came back in August, with the 34-year-old's most recently getting on the scoresheet for Republic of Ireland against Moldova.

Form Guide
Mark Warburton's side boast an impressive recent home record, having won each of their last three games at The City Ground.

That run stretches back to late September, when they were beaten 2-1 by Fulham.

Their most recent success in Nottingham was a 4-0 victory over QPR, having previously seen off both Sheffield United and Burton Albion.

That form is in stark contrast to Forest's fortunes on the road, where they have lost four of their last five, but they will be looking to make the most of home advantage once more.

However, with the Canaries having impressed on their travels so far this season, Tuesday's contest is set up to be an enthralling battle.

Previous Meeting
Norwich City produced a scintilating display as they emphatically defeated Nottingham Forest when the sides met in February, easing to a 5-1 win.

A stunning Jonny Howson volley set them on their way, before Josh Murphy and Wes Hoolahan quickly extended the advantage within the first 20 minutes.

Alex Pritchard's double - either side of Eric Lichaj's red card and Ross McCormack's consolation - completed the scoring at Carrow Road.

City were also successful on their last trip to The City Ground, digging deep to register a 2-1 victory in September 2016.

Hoolahan saw a first half penalty saved, with Alex Neil's side trailing at the interval after Apostolos Vellios netted from close-range.

They turned the game around in the second period, however, with Howson striking before Graham Dorrans lashed home the winner from outside the box.
