Joe Crowe was named Man of the Match for Limerick on Saturday after helping his side to a vital 1-0 win over Drogheda United in the League of Ireland Premier Division.

Operating in a midfield role, the City youngster played an important role in securing a victory which puts his side within touching distance of survival.

The game was settled by Rodrigo Tosi's penalty early in the second half, with Drogheda's Colm Dealey later seeing red as Limerick moved five points clear of the drop-zone with just two games remaining.

Back in England, Shrewsbury extended their unbeaten start to the Sky Bet League One season with a 1-1 draw at Plymouth Argyle - but dropped to second in the table as a result.

The Shrews trailed to Graham Carey's fine 58th minute solo effort, but rescued a point with less than quarter-of-an-hour remaining when Shaun Whalley lashed home from 20 yards.

Ben Godfrey played just over an hour for the away side, with Carlton Morris coming off the bench for the closing 26 minutes while Ebou Adams wasn't in the matchday squad.

Elsewhere in the division, fellow City youngster Harry Toffolo started for Doncaster Rovers at Charlton Athletic as they fell to a 1-0 defeat.

Tariqe Fosu netted the only goal of the game early on ahead of Toffolo being substituted on 62 minutes; the result seeing Doncaster drop to 18th.

In Sky Bet League Two, Sean Raggett missed out on Lincoln City's 0-0 home draw with Cambridge United through suspension - having picked up five bookings so far this term.

Grimsby Town's home clash with Crawley Town also ended 0-0, although the hosts missed the chance to take all three points when Sam Jones put a second half penalty wide.

Diallang Jaiyesimi was an unused substitute for Grimsby who moved up to 12th after 13 games.

Torquay United missed out on a place in the FA Cup first round proper, after going down to a 1-0 defeat at Aldershot Town.

Michee Efete played the final seven minutes of the contest, replacing former City youth player Damon Lathrope.

Woking meanwhile remain in contention after a 1-1 home draw with Concord Rangers set up a replay for a place in the next round.

Louis Ramsay missed out for Woking through injury, but is moving closer to a return to fitness.

In the Bostik League North Division, a late Brentwood Town goal denied Cheshunt victory; defender Callum Ellesley starting the game for the latter.

Norwich United meanwhile moved off the bottom of the same division with a 2-0 home win over Waltham Abbey with Canaries youngster Henry Pollock playing the full 90 minutes.
