Adam Phillips praised the mentality of Norwich City's youngsters following Tuesday night's 3-0 victory at Lowestoft Town.
Coming up against a senior side, Matt Gill's team rose to the challenge, with Phillips himself among the scorers at Crown Meadow.
"We went there knowing what we were going to be up against," he told reporters after the game.
"In the first half we played well and dealt with the long ball. We were able to win the game comfortably in the end.
"I was happy to get on the scoresheet. Normally I play a bit deeper but I was higher up the pitch this time."
Phillips feels comfortable with a philosophy of possession being passed down to the Development Squad, believing it matches well with his own game.
"The lads are getting used to playing out from the back," he added.
"Sometimes you have to kick it up, it's about knowing when it's the right time. I felt like I had time and space, and the lads were making good runs, so I enjoyed it.
"We've got quite a young team, but that's always good. They're willing to show what they can do.
"We're getting to know each other well now and I think we've got a good group."
