Daniel Farke says the Carabao Cup holds a “high importance” for him as he prepares his side to take on Brentford in the third round on Tuesday.
City have beaten Swindon Town and Charlton Athletic on their way to the last 32 and Farke says his team are keen to carry on their perfect record in the Cup.
“We have a perfect statistic in the Cup with two games and two wins and we want to go further, 100%,” he said, speaking to the local media at his pre-match press conference.
“We have a good momentum right now. In Germany, we would say the league is more your ‘bread and butter’ but I enjoy having runs in the cup.
“Before the first game in the cup, I said the cup has a high importance. We want to go there and win this game; otherwise, we would send a postcard to Brentford and say: ‘Okay, we don’t want to go through to the next round’ but we want to try everything to win this game.”
“To get through to the last 16 would be a great achievement. Also, I think our supporters like cup runs too and especially for them, we want to put on a good performance.”
The Canaries are unbeaten in three league games, keeping three clean sheets in the process, but Farke says there are still topics he wants his team to work on.
“All in all we had a brilliant last week,” he continued. “But not perfect – perfect would have been nine points.
“You’re always looking for perfection and to improve. Although we had a brilliant week, there are some topics we can work on.
“We have to improve in some topics but especially with the last week and our improvements in the defensive area, I’m really content and I have given lots of compliments to the lads.”
