Timm Klose could make his return to competitive action when Norwich City host Birmingham City in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday.
The central defender has been sidelined since being injured in a pre-season fixture at Cambridge United, subsequently missing the Canaries' first five league games of the campaign.
However, Head Coach Daniel Farke told the media on Friday afternoon that the Switzerland international is in contention for this weekend's game.
"Timm Klose and Cameron Jerome are both available, which is good as a coach," he said.
"We have some choice now. Timm is good at building up our game but also good at one-on-ones.
"I don't want to praise him too much because it's about how they perform on the pitch."
Grant Hanley is also in the mix for a place in the squad, after completing his move from Newcastle United last week.
"He arrived on Thursday and trained with the team on Friday," Farke added.
"He's available but two days may be too little time for him to start."
Among the longer-term absentees are Alex Pritchard, Louis Thompson, Matt Jarvis and Jamal Lewis - with all four expected to be out for the forseeable future.
