Academy Round-Up: Under-18s beat Spurs in thriller

11 April 2018

Adam Idah netted a superb hat-trick as Norwich City Under-18s got back to winning ways with a 5-3 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday afternoon.

David Wright's team were narrowly beaten 3-2 at Swansea City at the weekend with the goals coming from Finlay Barnes and Idah but City's youngsters produced a brilliant display to beat the north Londoners at Colney in midweek.

Idah opened the scoring for City before Spurs fought back to lead 2-1 after 42 minutes.

A trialist brought City level just before half-time and Idah got his second on 56 minutes to make it 3-2.

Spurs equalised moments later but Connor Parsons regained the lead for the Canaries off the bench before Idah sealed the victory and his hat-trick.

Elsewhere in City's Academy, the Under-14s took part in the Premier League International Finals in Sunderland at the weekend.

Drawn in a group with West Brom, Newcastle United and Villarreal, the team stormed through the group stage winning all three games.

Facing Chelsea in the semi-final, the game was evenly fought and ended in a 2-2 stalemate, meaning a penalty shoot-out to determine the victors.

Chelsea ultimately prevailed and qualified for the final, but despite coming so close to winning the title, the experience of playing in the International Finals was incredibly valuable for the team as they continue their development with the Academy.
