Fortuna Sittard edged closer to promotion to the Eredivisie on Friday with a 2-0 victory at home to Den Bosch.
They took the lead in the first-half through Lisandro Semedo but had to wait until the 87th minute to seal the win when Todd Cantwell assisted Finn Stokkers to make it 2-0.
Cantwell started and finished Sittard’s latest win and they are currently top of the Eerste Divisie with a two-point advantage over second placed NEC with two games to play.
In the National League, Ebou Adams played 90 minutes as Leyton Orient picked up an admirable 1-1 draw away at league leaders Macclesfield Town.
Danny Whittaker gave the hosts the lead but Orient equalised just before half-time through Josh Koroma.
Elsewhere, in the division Louis Ramsay played the full game of Woking’s 2-0 defeat at home to Bromley.
Despite the loss, the Cards are still just outside the relegation places by a point but the teams below them do have games in hand.
In Scotland, Russell Martin’s Rangers were beaten 4-0 by rivals Celtic to miss out on a place in the Scottish Cup final.
There was also disappointment for Kenny McLean and Aberdeen in the other semi-final as they were beaten 3-0 by Motherwell.
In Germany, Marcel Franke played 90 minutes as Dynamo Dresden were beaten 4-0 at home to Holsten Kiel.
In non-league, Jake Hallett played the full match of Mildenhall Town’s 2-1 defeat to Bower and Pitsea.
In Sky Bet League Two, both Diallang Jaiyesimi (Grimsby Town) and Paul Jones (Exeter City) were unused substitutes in their team’s draw at the weekend.
Elsewhere, Yanic Wildschut (Cardiff City), Remi Matthews (Plymouth Argyle), Adam Phillips (Cambridge United) and Michee Efete (Torquay United) were all absent from action.
