Under-23s boss Matt Gill says it is important his team aim to put in positive performances in their final two fixtures of the 2017-18 season.
The Development Squad have not played since March 12 and are back in action on Sunday against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Carrow Road (2pm).
Reflecting on the past few weeks for his team, Gill said: “We went down to Vicarage Road to help with some VAR testing. We played two 60 minute games against Watford and Barnet and managed to win them both 3-1.
“We had the chance to look at some trialists and we’ve also used this spell without a competitive game to work on some individual’s strength and power.
“It’s been a different spell for the boys having a period without any games. We needed to make sure we were making the full use of their time.”
It’s been a positive year all-round for City’s players at Under-23 level.
Jamal Lewis and Todd Cantwell have both made their first-team debuts after progressing from Development Squad level and a number of youngsters have gained valuable experience out on loan.
Gill hopes his players involved with the Development Squad at present can round their year off on a high with good showings in their final two games.
“We were on such a good run and to lose the last two games was disappointing. We put in a really good performance down in Southampton [in the last game] and hopefully we can match that level in the final two games.
“We’re conscious of not letting the last two games fizzle out and we want to finish as high in the table as we can, which will hopefully be the highest the Club has finished in a while.”
