City midfielder Alex Tettey said the team is delighted to get their first league win of the season with his strike helping to clinch a 2-0 victory.
Tettey’s goal followed just a few minutes behind the opener from Teemu Pukki in the 81st minute, securing three points for the Canaries against Preston North End.
Tettey said: “It has been a tough four games with us only getting one point so we are delighted that we took three points today. We have been searching for it, working for it and fighting for it so we are so glad to have a win on-board.
“I’m pleased with my goal, it was good to make it 2-0 and calm some nerves.
“All I thought was just strike the ball. It was a difficult game for me so I thought why not just have a shot and no one touched it and the keeper couldn’t see it that late. When the ball went in my head was just gone.”
Tettey said it was important for the team to get their first win in front of the home crowd.
“We are happy that we managed to win the game and the fans went home happy,” he said.
“Preston is a very good team under my former manager [Alex Neil] so I know exactly how good they are. It was a difficult game and we had to dig in and we got the first goal instead of them.
“Playing at home we always want to win and it is good to get the first one on-board.”
