Loan Round-Up: Wildschut fires late winner on debut

6 August 2018

Yanic Wildschut scored a late winner on debut for Bolton Wanderers as they picked up an impressive 2-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns.

Wildschut was introduced as a 78th-minute substitute by Phil Parkinson with the score at 1-1 and made the telling blow, stabbing home after David Wheater had headed Josh Vela's corner goalwards.

Also in the Sky Bet Championship, Sean Raggett was an unused substitute for Rotherham in their disappointing first day back in the second-tier.

They were thrashed 5-1 away at Brentford with goals from Neal Maupay (2), Sergi Canos, Ollie Watkins and Lewis MacLeod.

In League Two, Tristan Abrahams bagged a goal on debut as Exeter City beat Carlisle United 3-1.

Abrahams came on for Jonathan Forte in the 64th-minute and coolly finished in stoppage time to make sure of the points for the Grecians.

Elsewhere in the same division, Diallang Jaiyesimi started and played 55 minutes of Yeovil Town's 1-0 defeat at Bury.

Jaiyesimi was sacrified early into the second-half after Tom James was shown a red card and Yeovil ended up losing the game 1-0 after Bury's Gold Omotayo scored a late winner.

In Scotland, Steven Naismith scored a penalty as Hearts eased past Hamilton.

Hearts ran out 4-1 winners with Naismith playing the full 90 minutes at New Douglas Park. For their opponents, Mason Bloomfield came on for the final 10 minutes and Adam Phillips was an unused substitute.

And in Germany, Marcel Franke played 90 minutes as SV Darmstadt got their season off to a winning start with a 1-0 victory over Paderborn.
