Kenny McLean has been ruled out of action until after the international break after picking up a ligament injury in training.
The Scotland international has featured in all three of City's competitive fixtures so far this season but will be unavailable for City's trip to Bramall Lane this weekend, home games with Preston North End and Leeds United and the East Anglian derby.
Speaking at his pre-Sheffield United press conference, Daniel Farke said: "We have some bad news with Kenny McLean. He's picked up a ligament injury and will be out until after the international break.
However, the City boss delivered positive news on the fitness of Tom Trybull and Marco Stiepermann who both picked up knocks following the midweek Carabao Cup win over Stevenage.
"Tom Trybull is available so that is some good news, it was just a dead leg. Marco Stiepermann is also okay. He struggled a bit after the game but he was tough and is available."
However, Farke ended his injury bulletin by ruling Ivo Pinto and Todd Cantwell out of selection due to illness.
The match will come too soon for Emi Buendia who returned to training on Friday following the birth of his second child.
Although, Jamal Lewis will travel with the team to Sheffield and could feature for the Canaries at Bramall Lane.
