Alex Tettey says it “feels great” to have made 200 appearances for Norwich City following City’s win against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
Tettey, who joined Norwich in the summer of 2012, is in his seventh season at Club. “It feels great to get to 200,” he says in an exclusive interview with the matchday programme for the Boxing Day clash against Nottingham Forest. “I never thought I’d be here that long. It’s been a home, and it’s a great club to still be at. It’s been really nice.”
Tettey marked his debut with a winning goal in the Capital One Cup against Doncaster Rovers, and has since become a firm fan favourite. “To get a call from the manager Chris Hughton saying he wanted me to come and join was one of the best days of my life, to be fair.
“I couldn’t wait. It wasn’t a difficult decision – I said I’m playing, or I’m on the bench, washing people’s boots, I’m coming! It was a no-brainer.”
Tettey has made more first-team appearances than any other City player this season, and he says he’s loving being part of Daniel Farke’s side.
“In football it goes up and down – at the moment we’re playing well and everything’s going our way,” he says. “Touch wood that when the lows come we can get something out of those games as well.
“I try to take care of myself and enjoy it while I’m playing. It helps a lot that we’re winning too, as everyone is in a good mood and people are happy.”
