Twelve student chefs from City College Norwich will be aiming to match the normal high standards enjoyed by diners when they take over the kitchens, and front of house, at Delia’s Restaurant & Bar on Thursday January 25.
This special one-off event will give the students invaluable experience of food preparation and service in one of the city’s most popular restaurants.
The Level 3 Professional Cookery and Level 3 Hospitality, Supervision & Leadership students will be well-prepared for this exciting challenge, as they regularly prepare and serve a high quality fine dining menu for customers in the College’s Debut Restaurant.
They will be overseen by their Chef Lecturer Martin Colley, who is very familiar with the culinary standards required at Delia’s, having spent 3 years running Delia’s Restaurant & Bar before joining City College Norwich.
Martin said: “The takeover of Delia’s is a fantastic opportunity for our students to broaden their hospitality experience. They will have to get to grips with a new menu and a different style of service, which is an exciting challenge and great for their development as they move towards their future careers in hospitality. It promises to be a great evening.”
Norwich City Director Delia Smith said: “It’s great to be encouraging catering students, and Head Chef Nigel Ramsbottom is an outstanding chef to work alongside and learn from.”
The menu is available on Delia’s Restaurant & Bar website, priced at just £20pp for three courses for this special event. Bookings are available from 6:30pm-8:30pm.
