Loan Round-Up: Matthews keeps clean sheet as Plymouth win

Remi Matthews kept his first clean sheet since returning on loan to Plymouth Argyle as The Pligrims picked up a 1-0 victory at home to Walsall.

Ryan Taylor’s second-half strike was the difference at Home Park with Matthews playing his second match since renewing his spell on the south-west coast.

The result helped Plymouth extend the gap between them and the Sky Bet League One relegation zone to four points.

Elsewhere in the same division, Shrewsbury Town kept up the pace with leaders Wigan Athletic with a 1-0 victory over Oldham Athletic.

A goal in the first-half from Shaun Whalley helped Salop extend their unbeaten run in the league to six matches.

Ben Godfrey and Carlton Morris were both introduced as second-half replacements by boss Paul Hurst. Ebou Adams was an unused substitute.

In League Two, Sean Raggett was involved in an action-packed last game for Lincoln City before his return to Norfolk.

The Imps lost 4-2 to leaders Luton Town in a game where both sides had a man sent off. Raggett once again featured for the full 90 minutes.

Grimsby Town were beaten 2-0 away to Crewe Alexandra with Diallang Jaiyesimi featuring for the first-half of the game at Gresty Road.

Chris Porter and Brad Walker got the goals for The Railwaymen as Grimsby began 2018 with a defeat.

In the National League, Woking were undone by a stoppage time Scott Rendell winner as they were beaten 2-1 at home to Aldershot Town.

Rendell opening thje scoring in the first-half before Kane Ferdinand equalised for The Cards shortly after the restart.

However, Rendell bagged a late goal as Woking dropped to 14th in the table. Louis Ramsay played 90 minutes for the Surrey-side on the day.
