Mario Vrancic praised Norwich City’s grit after they battled their way to a fine 1-0 win away to Bristol City on Saturday.
The Canaries stood firm in the face of significant pressure from the hosts in the second period, with James Maddison’s superb strike ten minutes from time giving them victory.
Speaking to Norwich City TV after the match, Vrancic said: “We knew it would be a really hard game.
“Bristol City are a difficult team to defend against. We did really well in the first half and had some good chances.
“They put us under pressure in the second half but all in all we defended well. We gave our lives today and got the benefit for it so it feels amazing to win.
“There are two days to recover before Chelsea. We will give our best in that game as there is no pressure.”
Vrancic, who battled sickness for the cause, was instrumental in City’s winner; his sumptuous cross-field ball picking out Ivo Pinto to lay back into Maddison’s path.
“It’s hard to judge myself but I think I did a good job today,” he added.
“I have to carry on. We all have to carry on, to continue this good run. All we can do is bring our performances on the pitch.
“Before the game I said ‘be awake, I will play the diagonal balls’. It’s amazing we were able to score from this situation.”
