Daniel Farke was full of compliments for a number of Under-23 players as they starred in Norwich City's 2-1 pre-season victory over King's Lynn Town.
City fell behind on 50 minutes but fought back after a number of substitutions in the second-half to eventually prevail after goals from Devonte Aransibia and Adam Idah.
Speaking to the media post-match, Farke said: "We knew it would be a difficult game because the lads were tired.
"We travelled with a small group of proper first-team players and I think you could see on the pitch they were tired.
"We had many problems with our concentration but we decided to take our Under-23s and big compliments to Matt [Gill] and his young lads.
"You can see how important it is to be fresh and highly-motivated for such a game like our opponent was.
"When our young lads came in, they wanted to present themselves and I think it was a good decision to do this so we could rest some lads but also show that our young lads are not too far away."
Looking ahead to Tuesday's visit to Lincoln City, Farke revealed a number of players will deputise having not featured on Friday night.
"Several of them [will play]. In general, before we had the impression with several lads that they are not prepared because they arrived late for the pre-season.
"They were not involved today and also there were some slight issues in terms of injuries so we didn’t want to take any risks.
"But also, we wanted to give the signs to our young lads that if you’re good with your performances, you are always in for a position in the first team."
