City youngster raises over £1000 for life-saving equipment

28 March 2018

First year Norwich City scholar Connor Parsons has raised over £1100 in order to supply his local football club North Walsham FC with a defibrillator.

Connor joined forces with North Walsham youth coach Craig Brown to launch the “When your heart stops, you’re against the clock” appeal.

Connor said: “North Walsham Football Club is where it all started for me and I wouldn’t be where I am now if it wasn’t for the club and the fantastic coaches who use all their free time to teach passionate young footballers.”

The pair set about raising the money by hosting a raffle in which the response from the local community was outstanding.

Norwich City donated a signed shirt while other items donated included a personalised Wayne Rooney shirt from Triple S Sports and two ball gowns from Maisy Mae Bridal valued at £200 each, as well as a £100 gift voucher.

In total the community donated 55 prizes for the raffle along with generous money donations from North Walsham Round Table, North Walsham Town Council, Howden’s Joinery, Shell UK, Credo, Clan Trust and from every player and parent at North Walsham FC.

A special mention however, must go to Kerry and Kevin of Shepherds Health & Safety who very kindly donated a portable defibrillator which allows the club to take the life-saving machine with them to away games.

Craig explained: “There are hundreds of people that use Greens Road on a weekly basis and to have this machine readily available to the whole community will be a huge benefit."
