In Focus: Nottingham Forest

5 March 2018

Norwich City host an improving Nottingham Forest in the Sky Bet Championship on Tuesday, March 6 (7:45pm).

Here, we take a look at what Daniel Farke's side are set to come up against in their next game at Carrow Road.

January Recruits
Something of an overhaul took place at Nottingham Forest during the January transfer window, with a total of ten new players arriving.

Three of those joined as free agents, with Juan Rafael Fuentes, Ashkan Dejagah and Stefanos Kapino having all previously been unattached.

They also recruited Ben Watson and Adlene Guedioura without paying a fee, the pair joining from Watford and Middlesbrough respectively.

Those additions were supplemented by loan moves for Lee Tomlin, Jack Colback, Costel Pantilimon and Tobias Figueiredo - giving Forest's squad an entirely new look.

In terms of departures, nine players left The City Ground in January, with the vast majority making temporary switches to other clubs.

Form Guide
Nottingham Forest are beginning to show shoots of recovery under new boss Aitor Karanka, who joined the club in early January.

The East Midlands side have endured a challenging season generally, but have collected back-to-back victories to help earn eight points from their last four games.

Their most recent success came at home to Birmingham City on Saturday, with goals from Joe Lolley and Matty Cash guiding them to a 2-1 win.

That result lifted Forest up to 15th in the Sky Bet Championship, one place behind trhe Canaries having played a game more.

Recent good form has pulled them away from a potential relegation dogfight, leaving them 13 points above the drop-zone going into the midweek fixtures.

Previous Meeting
Daryl Murphy's 77th minute strike proved enough to settle the reverse meeting between the sides at The City Ground in November.

The visitors controlled long periods of the game, but couldn't make it count before the hosts began to up the ante deep into the second half.

A flurry of Forest pressure eventually told when Murphy converted Mustapha Carayol's cross from the right, with City unable to find a way back into the contest in the time remaining.

The Canaries boast an impressive home record against their upcoming opponents however, having come out on top in each of the last three clashes to take place at Carrow Road.

That includes last season's thumping 5-1 win where City turned on the style with a number of high-quality goals, most notably a stunning volley from midfielder Jonny Howson.
