Mario Vrancic is determined to take his chance following a spell out of the team.
The arrival of Moritz Leitner in January has meant Vrancic has often had to make do with a place on the bench, but Leitner’s injury means Vrancic hopes he can show the same good form he displayed throughout December.
"We're all competitors, and if you get a chance you have to use it,” Vrancic told the media on Friday lunchtime. “I concentrate on the present and on my performance - I know I need to deliver.
“Every player likes to play all of the time. But I don’t think about the past too much, and hopefully this will be a chance for me to make an impact and a contribution. I like to be in a rhythm, but when you're not always playing you have to wait for a chance and take it when it comes."
Vrancic admitted the team are desperate to improve City’s home form, and want to turn draws into wins.
“We talk about our home form a lot in the dressing room. We’re all desperate to make it better so we can entertain the supporters and win more points.
“We’ve tried different things, but we feel we’re creating chances and we’re desperate to start taking more of those chances when they come. Carrow Road was bouncing after the equaliser against Ipswich. We need to deliver and to entertain our fans.”
Despite Reading’s struggles at the wrong end of the table this season, Vrancic says the Canaries will be in for a tough test.
“We know Reading have a lot of good players and have a lot of possession. But we are focused on putting in a good performance and getting a good result."
