Norwich City Under-23s' Premier League 2 play-offs hopes suffered a setback as they were beaten 3-0 at home to Fulham.
Tyrese Francois' early strike was added to in the second-half by Robert Atkinson and Luca De La Torre as City failed to close the gap on the PL2 Division 2 promotion spots.
Matt Gill handed a start to Matt Jarvis, making his return to action after almost a year on the sidelines. Max Aarons captained the side from right-back with Adam Idah coming in up-front for a rare start at Under-23 level.
It was the visitors who started the brighter of the two sides and they took the lead inside the opening ten minutes. De La Torre crossed low from the left and his ball found an unmarked Francois who tapped into an empty net.
Moments later a delicate through ball was finished well by Tristan Abrahams but the City striker was flagged offside. City then continued to look bright despite going behind, with Jarvis sadly having to be substituted midway through the first-half.
For all of City’s possession in the first-half, they struggled to test Fulham stopper Luca Ashby-Hammond. The best of their opportunities came when Abrahams curled wide of the post from distance.
The Cottagers could have easily added to their lead just before half-time but Nicolas Santos-Clase could only shoot wide when through on-goal.
City went close to equalising within moments of the restart when Savvas Mourgos showed great balance to stay upright as he surged forward, although the Greek midfielder could only curl his shot inches wide.
The Canaries were made to pay for that miss on 63 minutes as Atkinson fired home from the edge of the box to double Fulham's advantage.
Adam Idah had a good chance to reduce the deficit moments later but he fired wide after a nice through-ball by substitue Louis McIntosh.
But Fulham sealed the win with around ten minutes to play when De La Torre guided home Stephen Sessegnon's cross.
