Former Canary defender Darren Kenton and goalkeepers Mark Walton and Scott Howie are the latest additions to the Norwich City Legends team for the upcoming match against Inter Forever, on Sunday May 20 (2pm).
A graduate of City’s youth system, Kenton made over 175 appearances for the club from the late 1990s to 2003, scoring nine times.
Those goals included a brace against Sheffield United during the 2001-02 season as he helped Nigel Worthington’s side reach the Division One play-off final.
Later representing Southampton, Leicester City, Leeds United, Cheltenham Town and Rochester Rhinos, Kenton, 39, has since returned to Norfolk and now works within the club’s Academy coaching setup.
Scott Howie made two appearances for the Canaries, and was on the bench during City’s UEFA Cup run.
Howie, 46, represented Scotland at U21 level and had a successful career for the likes of Motherwell, Reading and Bristol Rovers. Following his retirement he returned to Norfolk to play for King’s Lynn and Wroxham.
Mark Walton joined Norwich City from Colchester United in 1989 after being recommended by former Colchester manager Mike Walker. Primarily the understudy to Bryan Gunn, Walton made 28 first-team appearances and was an integral part of City’s run to the FA Cup semi-finals in 1991-92.
Walton made 22 appearances for the Canaries before leaving in 1994, and later played for Fulham, Brighton and Cardiff.
The match against Inter Forever is proudly supported by club Community Partner Aviva and will raise funds to build the Community Sports Foundation’s new hub, ‘The Nest’.
It will mark 25 years since Mike Walker’s Canaries made a memorable run to the third round of the UEFA Cup in 1993, with the legendary manager returning to the Carrow Road dugout for the fixture.
