Mario Vrancic will miss City’s final game of the season at Sheffield Wednesday after he suffered a groin injury in training.
Vrancic has been a mainstay of Norwich’s side over the last few months, and Daniel Farke hopes the injury isn’t too bad.
“We have to do without Mario Vrancic because after the session yesterday he felt pain in his groin,” Farke told the media on Friday lunchtime. “It’s not too bad, just a little strain but he won’t travel with us.
“He’s played many minutes in recent weeks, and he’s developed so much and has become crucial for our game. We want to make sure he’s fine for pre-season.”
Alex Tettey, who missed the win over Leeds United and signed a new two-year deal this week, will also miss Sunday’s game.
“Alex Tettey is pretty tired and because he was going to have an injection in his knee at the end of the season, we’ve decided to bring that forward and do it this week so he won’t travel with us on Sunday.
“He could have played if it was like a World Cup final, but we decided in order to get his pre-season a week ahead to do the injection this week.”
There will also be a late call over Grant Hanley’s fitness ahead of the match.
“It’s a bit doubtful if Grant is able to play. He was hit with a tackle in training and his ankle was swollen, so we’ll take a late decision on him. At the moment he’s 50-50.”
Tom Trybull made his return to City colours against Leeds United after a lengthy spell out with injury, while Onel Hernandez also stepped up his return with a substitute appearance.
“It’s good to have Onel and Tom back and they’ve proved they’re crucial for our game. They’ve had one more week in training and they’re fully available for tomorrow.”
